Who am I Today?

by Phil Hadley

I had my heart torn a while back to hear a student get totally confused as to what his surname was.

“there was a new bloke in the house”

Mum had legally changed it twice before, and now there was a new bloke in the house, mum had told him to ask the teachers to use another new name. The 12-year-old had little idea of who he was and whom he belonged to.

“I am in God’s family. I have an identity. I belong”

I am so glad that as a Christian I know who I am. I am a son of God through faith in Christ Jesus. I am in God’s family. I have an identity. I belong. I am loved. I am somebody, because by believing in Jesus, God has made me His child. John wrote in his first letter, "How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called the children of God." And just in case there's any doubt, he adds, "And that is what we are!"
