God took me to the Next Level

My name is Kate. I attend the Grace Community Church Youth Group. I became a Christian in a Christian camp called Soul Survivor in August 2001. So the first two years have really been ‘laying the foundations’ of my Christian life. I had recently become quite comfortable with my relationship with God. I had been going to youth group for a while once a week and things didn’t really change much.

Then in November 2002 our youth group started planning a trip to Jamaica. This is where I piped up. I REALLY wanted to go. I prayed about it just to make sure that it was what God had planned for me to do. I was right! So I got the money from various places and I was now set to go.

One girl from the youth group was talking to me about getting baptised. I said it was a good idea. Then I went home and thought about it and prayed to see if God was telling me to get baptised as well. I wasn’t sure if I was meant to or not, but while I was out there in Jamaica I heard a talk about effective ways to share your faith. At the end of the talk there was a question: “If Jesus was to live your life, how would it change?” Then I knew that he wanted me to get baptised. I knew then that I had become way too comfortable and I needed to take my relationship with God to the next level.
