When the accident occurred, during our holiday in Mallorca, a passing driver must have phoned for help
four ambulances and some police cars turned up |
because four ambulances and some police cars turned up. The car was so bad that some parts had to be cut off before my Mum could be pulled out. My Dad, my Sister and I were taken off to hospital not
knowing the fate of my Mum, leaving her behind in a flood of blue and red flashes.
I heard screams of pain that I will never forget |
When we got the the hospital, we were all taken for x-rays, during that I heard my Mum wheeled in as well, and she was taken directly to the x-ray room. When the doctors
had finished checking me over, I went to go and stand outside my mum's room, and I heard screams of pain that I will never forget, it was also then that the man that was in the other car
approached me with not a tear in his eyes - he looked at me as I had tears streaming down my face, I turned my back and never looked at him or saw him again.
how could God destroy a family in only one second and leave it shattered and broken |
Hours later, we were all put in a family room and given details of what had happened to my mum - in short they said that she had broken her neck and that she would never walk again unaided. I put
my arms around her and couldn't let go. My only thought was was how could God destroy a family in only one second and leave it shattered and broken - I was filled
with anger and hatred, but most of all confusion and doubt.
It wasn't until two weeks later that I had two significant events that proved me wrong. Two members
how could someone give up that much to come abroad to see a family? |
of our church in the UK paid for tickets to come out and see us, and bring the whole family messages and flowers. I thought how could someone give up that much to come abroad to see a
family? - I didn't know.
There was a chapel in the hospital, and I decided that I was giving up too soon and that
a miracle had occurred and Mum would be able to walk |
a bit of prayer wouldn't go amiss. It was later that day that I was completely blown away by shock and joy. The consultant came to speak to us, and summarising all I can remember, basically
a miracle had occurred and Mum would be able to walk with some therapy, and after an operation, she could be transferred back home.
Through a lot of time, faith and work my Mum has managed to get to where she is now - a successful teacher of sign - language at Truro College. Although able to walk, she has her
ups and downs and she is sometimes bed-bound.
however painful and dead the situation is, He WILL help you through whatever you're going through |
What this nightmare helped was my faith in God. It made me see that however painful and dead the situation is, He WILL help you through whatever you're going through and see you to the end. If
that event wouldn't have happened, my eyes wouldn't have been opened to the wonderful power and glory of God, and I would never have come to realise how cool God really is !
