IT WASN'T ME!

...is the anthem of a whole generation |
being caught red-handed on camera on the bathroom floor! "It wasn't me" is the anthem of a whole generation. When a parent asks "Who...?" "It wasn't me!" is the usual reply.
When a teacher catches a student in the act, the line of defence is still "It wasn't me!" And where did we learn such a response?
We all fail to face up to our faults. We refuse to be responsible for our actions. Occasionally we may hoodwink a parent or sweet talk our way round a teacher, but the Bible says God is never mocked.
When God asked Adam, "Have you eaten from the tree from which I commanded you not to eat?" Adam said, "It wasn't me. It was the woman you gave me." He tried blaming both the
woman and God - anyone but himself.
God... can see our thinking and our motives |
Jesus taught that God not only sees everything we do, knows everything we say, but can see our thinking and our motives as well. John 2 v25 tells us that Jesus did not need man's testimony
about man, for he knew what was in a man.
We need to face up to our position before God, because until we do, we can never know his grace and mercy, his forgiveness, his removal of our guilt, and his healing.
If we confess our sins, He ... will forgive us |
John wrote in 1 John 1 v8-9 "If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins
and purify us from all unrighteousness."
So next time we find ourselves saying "It wasn't me" let's leave out the "n't" because confession is good for the soul and for our peace of mind.
