CORNWALL CELEBRATES
Cornwall Celebrates is a bi-monthly praise and worship event that brings together Christians from a variety of backgrounds. It has toured venues across the county for the last two years ranging from
Redruth, Helston, Truro, Newquay, St Austell, Bodmin and Launceston.
While it is not specifically a youth event, it has provided the opportunity for many young people to showcase their musical talents, and make a wider audience aware of their gifts and ministry. There are
also many young people in the audience enjoying the worship and teaching.
The most recent Cornwall Celebrates was held at the
beginning of October in the Central Methodist Church in Launceston. Among the bands
leading the worship were Sound Ministry which featured a number of the young people from Launceston. Rachel Jones played keyboards, Tim Fuge electric guitar, Heather Lalupu was on vocals and the youngest of them all was
Jamie Pett on percussion. Avril James, vocals, and David Pett, guitar and vocals, made up the rest of the group. The tracks they played included “Let Your Love Come Down”, “Awaken the Dawn” and
“Hungry”. They were well received by the audience.
Another teenager making an impact across the county is Rosie Austin. This talented 17 year old
sang her own arrangement of the 23rd Psalm and then filled the church with an amazing performance of “Fill This Place” – “All we suffer will seem like nothing
when we come home, but until then, fill this place with your love and your grace...” Rosie also sang and played violin with the Cornwall Celebrates house
band Kerygma.
The evening also featured Caleb, a band made up of members from Callington and Launceston, Vivienne Tsouris, a dancer from Wadebridge, an interview with Viv Stanton of the Cornwall Good News Bus and a
challenging talk on discipleship from Steve Emery-Wright, the minister at Launceston Central Methodist Church.
The next Cornwall Celebrates is in December at Highway Church in Penryn. Check it out. Get involved. Get along with your mates and enjoy it. Let Cornwall see you celebrate your faith. For more details contact Pete Stanton
